The heat of the moment grew heavier—not only from the blazing sun overhead but also from the tension of the crowd beginning to gather around us.

You should be grateful this person saved her.” Her calm conviction caught the man off guard, leaving him momentarily speechless.

An older man with a gentle smile added, “My daughter’s a veterinarian—she says it takes only minutes for a dog to suffer heatstroke in conditions like this.” With each new voice, the man’s fury seemed to falter, replaced by the uncomfortable weight of guilt.
